It is such a joy to be back with you this morning after being away for the month of August with my wife and son in Virginia. Our time away was all we hoped for and more and we are so deeply thankful to you as a congregation for allowing us the freedom to go and rest. Today is our annual picnic… What a special occasion that our first Sunday back is a day of celebration for LifePath of all God has done in the past year. Many new faces, remarkable stories of God’s grace, people saved, people sent, life and growth, and a new name that captures the clearer sense of call and mission that God has given us as a family. There is much to be grateful for and much to look forward to together! Join me today as we worship Jesus and open His Word; both of which invite the Presence of Jesus Christ, the One True God, into our midst to do His perfect work among us. We will conclude our service early this morning and head for the lake for a time of fellowship, food, fun, and baptisms.

It is my joy this morning to share with you God’s amazing love that flowed through His Son to touch His people. This month has been an incredible journey as we have been reading through the book of Luke. I’ve read it many times, but this time through something began to happen. I believe it is because we are reading it together as a community of believer, journaling, and then sharing in our JAGS “what’s God saying to you?” So, today as we share Luke 8:26-56, let’s begin to ask “Who are these people? What is God trying to tell me through their situation? How does this apply to my life right now?”

In our JAG reading schedule we have been experiencing the words of King Solomon in Proverbs. Let’s take a moment to stop and pause to consider one of the primary topics of Proverbs. Wisdom. Proverbs 3:13 tells us, “Blessed is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gains understanding.” How do we “Seek Wisdom” in our lives today?
8.1.2010 GUEST SPEAKER: DAN MUNDT Dan Mundt
I wish I was with you today to share in the joy of worship and Christian community, but I appreciate so much your love and support for Christina and me as we are away on sabbatical. As a part of the Heartland District of the Foursquare Church, we are connected to six states with 150 churches and thousands of members. Today’s special guest speaker is the District Supervisor for that District. I have known Dan now for a year and a half and have grown to appreciate his leadership, spiritual sensitivity, and genuine heart for people. In fact, the thing that has connected us the most is our shared passion to “shepherd” people well. He is a shepherd at heart, and in recent days, my family and I have had the opportunity to experience his shepherding hand personally in facing our many challenges. There can be no doubting his genuine love for Jesus or people.
I know you will enjoy your time with him this morning. Please extend to him the same love and receptivity you would me. I am confident God will show His great love for His Church as you share life today.

Today we continue our series called “Life in The Spirit”. The hope I have for us as we look carefully at the Person and work of The Holy Spirit is that we all become more aware of and inclined toward the gracious offer God has made to us in Christ and begin to more fully bear the nature and power of our God. We have seen that it has been God’s desire from the beginning for His sons and daughters to have His Spirit within them… in fact He has promised to do this since the tragic events of Genesis 3. We have discovered that The Holy Spirit is not a power or thing but is in fact a Person. He has as equally distinctive a role and ministry among us as The Father or The Son. We have learned that the purpose of The Spirit is to restore people to the original relationship and destiny in God’s heart when He created mankind. And we have seen that the fruit of The Spirit is the work of The Spirit in the lives of God’s children to release His Nature in them and through them in miraculous ways! Today we will continue looking at the Power of The Promise of The Spirit within us. We will be encouraged today that The Spirit connects us to one another in a very special way granting us an amazing gift: brothers and sisters with the same Spirit to stand with us in our journey of becoming all God desires.

The people of Israel stored their most valued possessions in clay jars and hid them. One day, even the Word itself had to be secreted away, protected from the ravages of conquering armies. The metaphor of the people of God as vessels of clay to hold the evidence of the power and glory of God is used masterfully by the apostle Paul. Is the message also for us? Do we hide what we know - or are we supposed to do something with it? Open your hearts with me to a message that will release you from worries, doubts and fears about your Christian walk.
